HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — One Huntsville man is doing his part to spread kindness in the community.
After successfully raising money to support Three Scoops, a local ice cream shop, Travis Large asked himself how else he could help the community.
He used his voice on social media and created The Acteevist Project, a crowdfunding effort to build up people, small businesses, and organizations in Huntsville.
Last week, Travis took to social media asking for donations to help pay off late fees at Huntsville Utilities. He and his "Acteevist Army" raised $2,900. With that money, they were able to help out 17 families.
"The billing manager, she made the calls to people. We heard people shouting glory hallelujah. We heard grown men crying. It was just an amazing, amazing day," said Large.
Travis has more up his sleeve. For his next project, he wants to focus on kids and help local Boys & Girls Clubs. Due to the pandemic, many of them need help getting cleaning supplies, face masks, and other items.
