MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Legislature passed a bill that delays implementing the state's required testing for third graders to advance to the fourth grade by two years.
The House voted 68-27 to pass Senate Bill 94 on the last day of the Legislative Session, May 17. The bill is now headed to Governor Kay Ivey's desk for her signature.
The Legislature is implementing the delay to help accommodate students due to the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on education. The testing requirements now won't go into effect until the 2023-24 school year.
