HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Shoppers camped outside Huntsville's new Trader Joe's Thursday morning as they eagerly awaited the store's grand opening.
Two cousins even camped out overnight to be the first ones in the store.
"You get to be the first ones in Trader Joe's, I jokingly said it's because I love groceries, but it's fun. It's a memory to have and, like, it's that or sit at home and watch Netflix, so why no live a little bit?" said Shane Sieweke.
This opening is a prime example of the growth the Rocket City is seeing.
"As a new Huntsville resident, it's exciting to see some of these national brands coming to our city," said Heaven Guerin.
This is the only Trader Joe's in North Alabama and only the second in the state.
"Just the outpouring in general has been awesome, so second is fine. I'm in Huntsville and I'm happy to be here," said store manager Jeremy Krepps.
Customers said they're excited for the new options Trader Joe's will provide.
"Something that I'm really excited for is this vegan mac and cheese. I've heard a lot about it on the internet and I'm super excited to try," said one shopper.
