ATHENS, Ala. — The rain washed out their plans on Thursday, so a family in Athens welcomed the community to celebrate Halloween a couple of days late.
Saturday's walk-through display drew hundreds of visitors to a neighborhood on Holt Road, northeast of Athens.
Costumed characters offered family-friendly frights, and many of the children who took part put their own Halloween garb back to use.
"We enjoy seeing little kids have fun," Briana Christian told FOX54. "I'm very happy. I did not expect this big of a turnout."
Organizers said it was something they wanted to do after their own family had a rough Halloween experience.
Though it's the first time for the event, they say it won't be the last. They plan for a bigger celebration next Halloween.
