HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — TVA is inviting you to a public information session in Huntsville to learn about the energy provider's draft Resource Plan and offer feedback.
The Tennessee Valley Authority says the meeting is an opportunity for local residents to learn about the draft IRP and give feedback on how TVA evaluates and plans to meet future power demand.
The draft IRP and a corresponding draft Environmental Impact Statement, which "studies the potential environmental impacts of the IRP", were published online Sept. 23 here.
Public comments will be accepted at the information session or online. The in-person session is at Calhoun Community College in the Math Science Computer (MSC) Building, Room 1133, on 102 Wynn Dr. NW in Huntsville on November 12 at 6pm.
In a statement about the meeting and the plan, TVA says, "An IRP evaluates options available to meet the region’s power generation needs for the coming decades. The latest plan has been in development since Spring 2023, and it examines economic, regulatory and market-driven scenarios, which are outside TVA’s control, as well as strategies that TVA could utilize to respond to these scenarios while continuing to provide reliable power at the lowest possible cost."
