HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville are now required to be tested for COVID-19 before returning to campus in the fall

The tests must be done 14 days before they are back in a classroom.
Students who test negative for the virus can return to campus when classes begin. Those who test positive have to be cleared by a health care provider after their quarantine before returning.
The tests will be given for free through GuideSafe, which is funded from the CARES Act.
UAH Chief of Staff Ray Garner said, "It shows an interest in higher education and the importance of higher education for students in the state if Alabama. Plus, it helps us offset the costs of funding these tests."
If a student has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 12 weeks, they can provide a copy of the results and medical clearance from a health care provider to return to campus.
