The Athens Saturday Market, which features local fresh produce, baked goods, fresh meat, and local art and music, is hosting a special day for veterans.
Market Committee Chairwoman Laurie Glenn said the first 40 veterans who arrive at the Market will receive a $5 Market Buck to redeem with any grower or vendor.
“We want to say, ‘Thank you,’ to our veterans for their service,” Glenn said. “We will have signs of appreciation and some red, white and blue décor as well.”
Many veterans enjoy the weekly market at the Green Street Pavilion. Market Manager Misti Fillingame noticed that because most wear their armed service hats.
Market goers are invited to wear our nation’s colors to this week’s Market to help honor our veterans.
