Both veterans and civilians pay their respects at Huntsville's Veteran Memorial

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Various cities, schools, and organizations in the Tennessee Valley will honor veterans with events on and around Veterans Day.

Huntsville

Huntsville Veterans Day Parade

Huntsville will honor our country's veterans with a grand parade. The parade route includes the Veterans Memorial on Monroe Street.

Denny's

Denny's salutes military heroes with free Grand Slams for Veterans on Nov. 11

Guests with a valid military ID or DD 214 can enjoy complimentary Grand Slams from 5 a.m. to noon at participating locations

On Nov. 11, Denny's is proud to once again honor those who served their country by offering a complimentary Grand Slam to all active, non-active and retired military personnel to thank America's veterans for their endless service and dedication. The offer is valid for dine-in only at participating locations from 5 a.m. to noon* with a valid military ID or DD 214.

*Denny's Veterans Day offer is valid for dine-in only and will not be available for online ordering through Denny's on Demand. Some locations may open after 5 a.m.; check your local restaurant for its hours of operation.

Scooter's Coffee

To honor veterans this Veterans Day, Scooter’s Coffee is giving back to those who have proudly served our country. On Friday, Nov. 11, veterans can receive a free handcrafted drink of any size at Scooter’s Coffee. To receive the free drink offer, veterans just need to present their valid military I.D. at a participating Scooter’s Coffee location. The offer is only valid one per person, while supplies last, and is not available for Order Ahead through the Scooter’s Coffee Mobile App.

M*A*S*H Finale special feature

The final episode of M*A*S*H- "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" will air on MeTV with cast and creators of M*A*S*H sharing their memories of this landmark series and the historic finale.  MeTV will broadcast these exclusive interviews along with the uncut series finale together in a 3 hour special event on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2022 starting at 6:00 p.m. CST.

Calhoun Community College

Calhoun Community College is excited to invite the public to attend its annual Veterans Day Celebration Program on November 10, at 10:00 a.m. in the Health Sciences Building, room 109 on the Decatur Campus. The event is free and refreshments will be served.

“Veterans Day is one of those holidays we would be remiss not to acknowledge or celebrate here at the College,” commented Dr. Jimmy Hodges, Calhoun President. “Calhoun has a tremendous amount of respect for our Veterans and we make sure to acknowledge it not only by celebrating their brave sacrifices and accomplishments but also through providing them with services and training that will help them to transition into the civilian workforce, or even hobbyist courses if they are retired. We are thrilled about our upcoming program and hope to see many in attendance,” added Hodges.

This year’s event will feature retired Sergeant (SGT) Michael David Gronkowski as its guest speaker. 

Morgan County - Priceville

Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony

The City of Priceville is honored to be the home of the Morgan County Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony on Friday, November 11, 2022.  The Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at the Morgan County Veterans Memorial for the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. 

Florence Veterans Day Program

November 11, 2022, 11:00 a.m. to noon

Florence Mayor Andy Betterton and Lauderdale County Commission Chairman Danny Pettus announce the annual Veterans Day program. The Ceremony will be held at the Florence - Lauderdale County Veterans Memorial Park at 301 Veterans Park Drive, north of Wilson Dam. The number of attendees is not restricted; however; seating is limited. Standing room is available. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs. Seating will be at the front side of the Veterans Memorial.

The purpose of the Veterans Day Ceremony is to honor all American Veterans for their service in defense of our freedom. The theme for this year's Veterans Day program is, "Honor Our Veterans."

The Veterans Day program can also be viewed by watching it LIVE on the City of Florence Facebook Page, Big River Broadcasting Radio Stations, and Singing River Media Radio. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Florence-Lauderdale Coliseum.

Northeast Alabama Community College

Northeast Alabama Community College will host a community-wide Veterans Day reception on Thursday, November 10th, at 10:00 a.m. in the Tom Bevill Lyceum.

This year’s guest speaker will be Brigadier General Jerry C. McAbee of Rainsville. Refreshments will follow the program, and the college extends an invitation to anyone who wishes to attend.

Brigadier General McAbee retired from the United States Marine Corps during August 2005 after serving 35 years and 7 months on active duty. Brigadier General McAbee is a native of Rainsville, Alabama, and graduated from Jacksonville State University in Alabama in 1970 where he has commissioned a Second Lieutenant, U. S. Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Course.
