MORGAN COUNTY, Ala — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a vehicle trapped in water on Wilhite Road in the Lacon area during severe weather at around 9:46 p.m. on March 17.
The sheriff's office provided an update at around 10:14 p.m., saying an individual had been found clinging to a nearby tree as rescuers attempted to reach her.
At around 12:45 a.m., the sheriff's office said the woman had been rescued and was receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Additionally, officials responded to another water rescue earlier in the evening on March 17 on Douglas Road. MCSO said the individual in this incident was also rescued.
Drivers are asked to not on flooded roads or go around barriers.
When local flooding happens during severe weather, rescue squads want the public to remember, "Turn around...don't drown."
Don't go around barricades and don't drive through standing water, no matter how shallow you think it is. Even shallow water can have swift currents, and hidden dangers like limbs and logs can be under the surface.
