DECATUR, Ala. — A worker at a Decatur plant has died following an accident Saturday night.

The Decatur Police Department on Sunday said the unidentified worker died after an incident that happened just after 7 p.m. at the Dutch Quality House facility located in the 100 block of Plugs Drive.

The male victim was taken to a local hospital but did not survive.

OSHA will investigate the accident.

Dutch Quality House is associated with Wayne Farms, a company that focuses on poultry production. The company was involved in a recent merger and now operates as Wanye-Sanderson Farms,

OSHA records show that the Decatur plant was fined for a 2022 amputation incident that led to an initial finding of six serious violations. The case was later updated to reduce the record to a single serious violation and a fine of about $14,500, reduced from an initial fine of $85,000.

An informal settlement was reached following a 2022 inspection that initially identified a serious infraction and levied a fine of $13,700. The company settled with a payment of $9,600 and the record now lists the level of the violation as "other."
