HUNTSVILLE, Ala — Santa Claus is already on his way around the world delivering gifts for Christmas.
WZDX caught up with Santa on Wednesday to see how he was getting ready for the big night.
Just before Santa left the North Pole for his yearly journey across the world, he was preparing by snacking on cookies made by Mrs. Claus, even though he says he is excited to try all of the cookies in his path on Christmas Eve.
Santa says his reindeer love the carrots everyone leaves out for them to enjoy, but this year, Rudolf has a very special request.
"He's getting a little tired of carrots," said Santa. "Rudolf said if maybe everybody could leave out just one banana. People don't realize it, but reindeer love bananas!"
Many are worried that Santa might get or spread COVID-19 when delivering gifts all around the world. Santa Claus says people must remember he has some magic and has been cleared by health leaders to deliver presents.
Santa said, "You know, here at the North Pole, we have a big protective bubble that covers everything and it keeps us very safe, so there won't be any issues when I come to visit tonight. Don't worry, you can leave out the cookies and I will bring some presents, no problems."
Santa couldn't chat for too long because he and the elves had just a few more presents to load into the sleigh.
"I know Rudolf is just outside the window. He is so ready to go," said Santa. "His nose is glowing. He is ready out there at the head of the sleigh. We are just about ready to take off. We're going to be in Huntsville before you know it."
Santa says he hopes everyone has a very merry Christmas!
