WZDX employee donates stimulus check to local non-profit

Tyler Mace gave a great deal on #GivingTuesday to help the Food Bank of North Alabama.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — This year, #GivingTuesday moved to May 5 from its usual place in November.

For WZDX employee Tyler Mace, it was a big day.

Mace, a member of the WZDX News production team, donated his entire stimulus check - $1,200 - to the Food Bank of North Alabama, saying that there are people in greater need than he is.

In a Facebook post, he said,

"With everything crazy going on in the country theirs a lot of people who are seriously fighting everyday to not only provide for themselves, but their families too. The Food Bank of North Alabama has been working around the clock to help the communities of the Tennessee Valley and North Alabama stay in this fight.

"Today for giving Tuesday I decided I would donate my entire stimulus check to this great organization and do my part. My $1200 donation will provide 8,400 meals to those who need it a lot more then I do. Do your part and do something good today. Putting positivity in the world comes in all shapes and sizes. You do not need to donate money to be a good person, simply waving at a neighbor is all the world needs right now. Reminding them that we are always stronger together, and we will all get through this."
