Santa isn't letting the quarantine stop him from making sure spirits are bright during the coronavirus pandemic.
Bob Boyer, WZDX Production Manager and Newscast Director, typically spends his time in the control room and makes the newscast come to life every night, but when he's not at WZDX, he's out bringing the joy of Santa to people in Huntsville.
On Saturday, over 100 families joined his Facebook live to ask questions and hear a Christmas story from Santa.
"For the first Santa Facebook live visits, we read the night before Christmas because that's my favorite book, but I've got many others that I'm hoping we can share with you, said Boyer. "This coming week and every week after, I'm going to let the children pick which book they would like to read as kind of a bedtime story with Santa."
Boyer says he's doing this to give people a break from the pandemic, and it's already easing the minds of kids all over North Alabama.
"A good friend of mine sent me a really cute picture of his daughter laying in his lap and they were both watching the Santa Chat and I was just so soothing and so calming, or so boring, that she fell asleep" said Boyer.
If you missed the first Facebook live, don't worry. He is going live weekly on Saturdays at 7:00 pm.
He recommends bringing cookies to eat and is encouraging kids to ask any questions they have for Santa.
