Lieutenant General Edward Daly is two months into his new position as deputy commanding general of Army Materiel Command. He’s also senior commander for Redstone Arsenal.
“How do we safeguard the workforce? How do we ensure quality of life? How do we really look to the future in terms of making Redstone better? Probably as important as all those other things, how do we interface with the local community to improve on an already great relationship?” Lt. Gen. Daly said about his new role.
Army Materiel Command focuses on readiness of the warfighter. “Making sure our soldiers have everything they need to fight and win our nations wars, no matter where they are worldwide. So that’s everything from having the right ammunition, to the right weapons, to the right equipment,” he said.
That also means being prepared to execute any mission, including possibly North Korea’s nuclear war threat.
“Whether it’s supporting hurricane victims like we’re doing now, to the mission in Iraq, Afghanistan our army is ready, we’re the best trained, we’re the best equipped,” said Lt. Gen. Daly.
He tells me he’s working on a strategic plan for the future of Redstone. “We have about 70 different tenant organizations. My job is to make sure that we set the conditions for the future to make sure that all those organizations can continue to execute their missions.”
Lt. Gen. Daly. is no stranger to Redstone Arsenal. He was the deputy chief of staff at AMC for 2 and a half years.
