Last week’s contest between St John Paul II and Randolph was a back and forth affair as the two teams went blow for blow. When the second quarter came around, the Raiders needed a boost and that’s when they turned to Luke Alison. The all everything back broke through the line for a 59 yard touchdown to give Randolph some breathing room
“We tried to set up our counter stuff, and when we got it set up, it was the perfect time to call it,” says Coach Blake Killen. “We call it and got the balls in his hands. He hit and made it happen.”
“That play helped us out for the rest of the game,” says Luke Alison. “We knew what we could do anything from then on. It was good team work, I think.”
By the end of the night, Alison had wracked up 260 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns offensively. Defensively, he chipped and recorded eight tackles along with a sack as Randolph scored a 45-35 win over St. John Paul. For his efforts, Luke is our week 7 First Down Friday Night MVP of the Week.
“I’m proud of Luke. He has persevered. He’s been with us four years and this is the year that he is getting on the field. He’s always been a good back.”
The Raiders are now focused on their battle with Fairview. A win will enhance their playoff positioning.
“It’s been our goal since the beginning of the summer to make the playoffs and make a run,” says Luke Alison. “So now that we know that we have a better chance after getting that win against Catholic , it takes some pressure off of us, but we have to continue to work hard.” If we win this one, then we are the number three seed,” says Coach Killen. “So its a huge game and we try to sell that its the biggest week of the season. Our kids really bought into that. We still have a chance to win 7 or 8 football games this year.”
