Morgan County narcotics sweep yields eight arrests, seizure of drugs, firearms

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division made over half-a-dozen arrests in a recent narcotics sweep. 

March 26 – A traffic stop for multiple traffic violations led to the arrest of Tommy Paul Russell, 45, of Hartselle for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance w/ Intent to Distribute-Methamphetamine and Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and Patrick Wade Stover, 31, of Vinemont, for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Before he was arrested, Stover tried unsuccessfully to eat a baggie that once contained methamphetamine.

March 26 – While serving and executing a search warrant in the 200 block of Iron Man Rd., agents recovered a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine, numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and prescription medication, along with a rifle that had an altered/removed serial number. Donna Jane Ziegler, 45, of Athens, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance w/ Intent to Distribute-Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, and Possession of an Altered Firearm. Melissa Lynne McCurley, 55, of Hartselle, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

March 29 – While serving and executing a search warrant at a home on NW Simmons Rd. in the Danville community, agents recovered numerous baggies containing a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine, numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia, prescription medication, and marijuana. Ashley Dale Adams, 35, of Hartselle, was arrested for for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance w/ Intent to Distribute-Methamphetamine. Jessica Ann Baker, 39, of Hillsboro, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance-Alprazolam and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Israel Joe Burks, 39, of Hillsboro and Nathan William Eady, 27, of Hartselle, were both arrested for Loitering in a Drug House.

All suspects were taken to the Morgan County Jail.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
