MLB releases 2024 All-Star Game starting lineup

The All-Star Game starting roster is out with the event happening in less than two weeks.
The game hasn't been played in North Texas since 1995 and preparations started last year, long before the Rangers' World Series run.

ARLINGTON, Texas — On Wednesday, Major League Baseball announced the 2024 All-Star Game starters. The game is on Tuesday, July 16th. It will be played at Globe Life Field in Texas.

American League Starters

Catcher: Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles (1st starter election)

The 26-year-old is batting .291 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs for the first-place O's.

First base: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto Blue Jays (3rd starter election)

Guerrero is batting .298 with 13 home runs and an .848 OPS this season.

Second base: Jose Altuve, Houston Astros (6th starter election)

Altuve, who's batting .308 with 13 homers and 13 stolen bases, is an All-Star for the ninth time in his career and a starter for the sixth time.

Shortstop: Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles (1st starter election)

The 23-year-old is batting .288 with 26 home runs, and has 13 stolen bases.

Third base: Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians (3rd starter election)

The 31-year-old has led the Guardians to the top of the AL Central, with 23 home runs, 15 stolen bases and 76 RBIs.

Designated hitter: Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros (1st starter election)

Alvarez is batting .297 with 18 homers and a .910 OPS for the red-hot Astros.

Outfield: Aaron Judge, New York Yankees (6th starter election)

He's leading the Majors with 32 home runs, 83 RBIs and an 1.158 OPS.

Outfield: Juan Soto, New York Yankees (1st starter election)

The 25-year-old is batting .300 with 20 homers and a .997 OPS this season.

Outfield: Steven Kwan, Cleveland Guardians (1st starter election)

He's batting .362, who also boasts a .526 slugging percentage and .945 OPS while striking out at one of the lowest rates in the Majors.

National League Starters

Catcher: William Contreras, Milwaukee Brewers (1st starter election)

William Contreras has a career-high .292 batting average for the NL Central-leading Brewers this season.

First Base: Bryce Harper, Philadelphia Phillies (7th starter selection)

Harper responded from a slow start to the season in a major way, with a .342 batting average and 1.076 OPS over the course of May and June.

Second Base: Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks (2nd starter selection)

The 30-year-old ranks first or tied for first among qualified second basemen in home runs (17), slugging percentage (.517) and OPS (.871).

Shortstop: Trea Turner, Philadelphia Phillies (2nd starter selection)

Turner has a .328 batting average, .923 OPS and three homers.

Third Base: Alec Bohm, Philadelphia Phillies (1st starter selection)

The third overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft has put it all together in a breakout season, with a .297 batting average, .349 OBP and .484 slugging percentage.

Designated Hitter: Shohei Ohtani (4th starter selection)

Though Ohtani has not pitched this season due to injury, his NL-leading totals in home runs (27), slugging percentage (.646) and OPS (1.048) were handily enough for him to earn another starting nod.

Outfield: Christian Yelich, Milwaukee Brewers (2nd starter selection)

Yelich has a .329 batting average in 2024.

Outfield: Jurickson Profar, San Diego Padres (1st starter selection

Profar has stunned the baseball world with a .311/.404/.472 batting line.

Outfield: Fernando Tatis Jr., San Diego Padres (2nd starter selection)

This is his first selection as an outfielder, thanks to his .821 OPS.
