NEW YORK — One of the true signs of the holiday season begins is when Rockefeller Center in New York City chooses their Christmas Tree.
The tree attracts thousands of people every year from near and far to celebrate.
It is a tradition that dates back to 1931 and has brought seasons of joy to the city ever since. But this year the tree won't be local to New York State.
In years past, the tree has came from places such as Vestal, Queensbury, and other locations in New York State. This year's tree will travel from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
Weighing in at 11-tons, the 74-foot tall tree will arrive at Rockefeller Center on Saturday, November 9.
