National Day of Mourning Wednesday December 5, 2018

After the passing of George H. W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States, December 5, 2018 has been declared a national day of mourning.

After the passing of George H. W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States, December 5, 2018 has been declared a national day of mourning. December 5th is also the day of the former president’s funeral, which will start at 11:00 AM at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. In observance of the day of mourning President Trump, has ordered all federal offices to be closed on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. 

On top of federal offices being closed, the United States Postal Service will also suspend delivery and retail offices will be closed on Wednesday. The New York Stock Exchange will also will also be closed. Lastly, some banks and other courts will be closed on Wednesday.

Following the funeral in Washington D.C., the 41st President will be flown back to Houston and then transported to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, where a public viewing will be held from 6:45 PM central time Wednesday until 6 AM central time on Thursday. 

On Thursday December 6, 2018, a private service will be held at the church begriming at 11 AM central time. Following the service, the President’s casket will be taken to a train station north of the city. The train will transport the President to College Station Texas, where his presidential library is located on the campus of Texas A&M University. This will be a 70 mile trip. 

Once in College Station, the president will be transported to the gated family plot to be buried next to his wife of 73 years, Barbara, and their daughter Robin. There will be a private graveside service with Bush’s family. 

As for President Bush’s service dog Sully, he is a highly trained service dog that can do everything from answer the phone to fetch items. He will go to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he will go back into service for veterans.
