You may have noticed many people wearing red today. It’s all part of National Go Red for Women Day and it kicks off American Heart Month.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women, taking more lives than all forms of cancer combined. The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Movement, encourages you to wear red to help raise awareness.
“Woman can prevent heart disease by knowing their numbers and by knowing their risk. So, if a family member has heart disease than your risks are elevated. Also, knowing your cholesterol, your blood pressure,” said Paulette Berryman.
You can support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association at the Huntsville Heart Walk. It’s happening on April 13th in downtown Huntsville.
