ATHENS, Ala. — After winning the primary election this week, Governor Ivey was grateful for all of her local supporters.
"I was proud to carry every county."
At the Athens Limestone Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, she shared what she has accomplished and what she plans to do for Alabama.
"Folks you know I shoot it straight and our roads need work."
While in office, Governor Ivey says the state has repaired over 1,500 roads and bridges. Some of these projects include 565 and U.S. HWY 72.
One of Governor Ivey's other main points was the importance of education, especially after the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas this week, she ensured the crowd that the state is acting on their school's safety.
"One of the worst massacres, unnecessary, we look to the S.A.F.E Council for recommendations and they are already being implemented in most of our schools.", says Ivey.
Ivey added that the state also plans to better fund schools with providing more after school programs, math coaches, higher wages and rewards for experienced teachers.
''Major priority in schools, we are making major progress and ask what can we more do we will continue to make changes where it counts and I know people will say across the country, across the world will be talking about the Alabama transformation."
