PIKE ROAD, Ala. — Gov. Kay Ivey received medical care after she felt ill at a campaign appearance near Montgomery Sunday evening.
WAKA TV reports that the issue involved dehydration, according to a spokesperson for the governor.
Ivey was taking part in an event to boost the candidacy of Caroleene Dobson, who is seeking Alabama's Second Congressional District seat. The event took place at SweetCreek Farm Market, a produce and baked goods store in Pike Road.
Television video of Ivey showed her becoming uneasy and losing her balance.
WAKA TV, which was at the event, said Ivey received fluids and medics performed a precautionary on-site assessment. The station said Ivey "immediately felt better and is at home doing well this evening."
Ivey, 80, posted a comment in support of Dobson on her unofficial campaign "X" account just before 9 p.m. Dobson is the Republican squaring off against Democrat Shomari Figures in the redrawn Second Congressional District.
