A program to help bring people with dementia or autism home when they’re missing is growing in Madison County.
Project Lifesaver now has about 60 people who wear bracelets that help police find them if they wander off. The Madison County Sheriff’s Department has a 100 percent recovery rate on wandering people.
On Wednesday multiple agencies from across the Valley trained with the equipment.
“I’ve had several that have wandered in their neighborhood,” said Deputy Sheriff Rick Brown. “Most of the time they wander down the street. They don’t wander far. My equipment tracks three miles by ground and ten miles by air.”
Project Lifesaver is a free program as long as you qualify. Learn more abut it here.
