One state lawmaker wants to eliminate the state’s income and sales taxes, and replace them with a tax based on consumption.
It’s called the “Alabama Economic Freedom Act” and it would repeal current state income tax.
It would also replace state, county and city sales tax with a flat rate of just over eight percent.
