HUNTSVILLE, Ala — Addiction and substance abuse are important issues to discuss on any day, but, especially during the pandemic. One group is bringing organizations together to help people who may be struggling with addiction.
Partnership for a Drug Free Community is holding its 2nd annual Recovery Resource Fair. The fair was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but had to be rescheduled because of rain from Tropical Storm Beta.
About 20 treatment providers are expected to be on site to answer questions and provide treatment options.
Organizers say, nothing is going to stop them from getting people the help they need.
We met with Wendy Reeves of Partnership for a Drug Free Community. She tells our reporter, “The pandemic definitely has not stopped the opioid epidemic. It’s actually been magnified because of the number of overdoses and the number of overdose deaths we’re seeing in our community. Right now, they’re happening about one every day and a half and that's tragic for everyone involved.”
The Resource Fair starts Wednesday September 30, at 4:30 pm. Masks will be provided, and treatment provider will be outdoors so attendees can stay six feet apart.
