Workers and cleaning crews added the finishing touches to Mars Music Hall at the Von Braun Center in Downtown Huntsville today. Hundreds of people will head to the new music hall tomorrow night for its very first concert.
VBC Marketing and PR Manager Samantha Nielsen said, “We’re opening with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. That show actually sold out within the first four minutes, so it’s a big, big deal.”
Mars Music Hall can hold over 1,500 people. For most shows, the downstairs area will be general admission standing only. The upper level has tables and chairs. They say a lot of thought went into the design.
“Everybody is going to be very surprised I think and impressed when they first come in, to the quality of the venue, the size, but also the intimacy. You’ll feel like you’re really close, because you will be. There’s not a bad seat in the house,” said Nielsen.
People at the VBC say they hope the music hall attracts more artists to Huntsville.
“We want them to have great accommodations and feel at home and be comfortable,” said Nielsen. “Just get that southern hospitality and tell their friends, hey you’ve got to come play in Huntsville.”
A big reason for the new music hall is because people here want more concerts, and this is giving the people what they want. Dozens more shows are planned throughout the next few months.
In addition to mars music hall, a new restaurant and rooftop bar are set to open up at the VBC early this year.
