HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — A robbery suspect from Alabama was killed after opening fire on deputies in Tennessee on Sunday evening. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) reported that deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office saw the suspect in a parking lot on Highway 128 South in Savannah.
According to TBI, as deputies approached the suspect's car, he exited and began shooting at them. Deputies returned fire, killing the man. TBI has identified the suspect as 33-year-old Jonathan Schutte from Ardmore, AL. No deputies were injured during the incident.
The TBI continues to investigate, and findings will be submitted to the district attorney general for review.
