FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Alabama's Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced it's giving over $300,000 to upgrade two Alabama airports. The Bay Minette Municipal Airport Authority in Baldwin County will get $226,127 to fix part of its pavement. In DeKalb County, the City of Fort Payne will receive $106,709 to improve taxiways at Isbell Field.
Bay Minette's airport will add in $75,376 of its own money for a total project cost of $301,503. Fort Payne will add $35,570, bringing their project total to $142,279. This funding comes from ALDOT's Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program. It's designed to help airports with things like construction and maintenance. ALDOT expects to give about $8 million to local airports across the state this fiscal year.
