MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A second Montgomery man faces a federal charge for possessing a firearm with a machine gun conversion device.
U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson told WAKA News in Montogomery that 20-year-old Jeremiah Williams was arrested Thursday for illegal possession of a machine gun.
According to court documents obtained by WAKA, intelligence gathering from the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit led to his arrest.
The unit located a Facebook account using the name "Jesse Owens." Law enforcement discovered the male in the pictures was Williams. The account had references to machine gun conversion devices.
Through witness interviews the day of the shooting at Tuskegee University, authorities learned that several cars were doing burnouts in the parking lot before the shooting. One of those cars was a white Dodge Charger.
On Nov. 10, Williams posted on Facebook that he needed "all of the videos of me last night in a white charger."
Later that day, Williams posted multiple videos and pictures of him in a white Dodge Charger. In one of the videos, the Charger is doing a burnout at what appears to be Tuskegee University.
Court documents say that in one of those pictures, Williams can be seen holding a firearm.
A federal search warrant was executed at his home in Montgomery, and Williams admitted to being present at Tuskegee that evening but denied firing his weapon.
Officials have not said if Williams is involved in the shooting.
The State Bureau of Investigation also arrested 25-year-old Jaquez Myrick for possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device. They say he was seen leaving the scene.
