EUFAULA, Ala. — Hickory Hollow Jerky, an Alabama-based company, is recalling approximately 6,229 pounds of ready-to-eat beef and bacon jerky products that were produced without federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.

The recall affects jerky products produced between January 19, 2024, and August 21, 2024. According to FSIS, the issue arose because these products were made without the required federal inspection.

Ownership of Hickory Hollow Jerky changed on June 11, 2024, but the product name and labels remained the same. The establishment number “EST. NO. 34550” appears on the affected labels inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The products were distributed to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Oklahoma, and were also sold online. The problem was discovered during routine FSIS check, which found that the jerky was labeled with the USDA mark of inspection despite the establishment’s request to halt FSIS inspection activities.

No adverse reactions have been reported. Consumers who have these products are advised to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
