Relatives of a man killed in ax murder describe the horrific scene inside his home.

57-year-old Randal Beard is facing capital murder charges after police say he attacked 63-year-old Robert “Bobby” Bezotte.

This happened overnight in the 2700 block of Peel St. near Bob Wallace in Southwest Huntsville.

“Blood all over the wall, I mean it’s gory.”

Crime scene tape lies outside of Bobby Bezotte’s home.

His family said he was allowing a few people to live with him, including Randal Beard, the man accused of killing him with an ax.

Beard’s estranged wife was also living in the home. She did not want to talk on camera, about what happened here overnight.

“Bad judge of character, he helped the wrong people.”

Police say there was an ongoing dispute between Beard and Bezotte.

The victim’s family says Beard once was a tenant at one of Bezotte’s homes, and had only been living here for a short time.

“That to me was crazy. An ax, you see knives, you see guns, but when you use an ax it kind of makes you wonder what was going on over there,” said Timmy Lee.

Passersby drove near the house to get a glimpse.

Neighbors say Bezotte’s home was often busy. He did repairs and recycled a lot.

“I’ve seen them. They’ve lived there for quite a while, I’m not sure exactly how long, but I’d say several years,” said Shirley Moahler.

Officers were back out at the scene Friday morning, speaking with the victim’s family.

Bezotte’s nephew told me his uncle’s safe was pulled out of a closet and his uncle’s body was in his bed.

“He kept stuff in it. It was drug out on the kitchen floor and I see where they fingerprinted it.”

Randal Beard was found standing outside the home when they arrived.

Bezotte died at the scene from Blunt force trauma.

The suspect, Randal Beard, is being held without bond.
