Tiffany Exhibit opens

Just in time for the holiday season, another world renowned exhibition is set to open at the Huntsville Museum of Art (HMA) on Sunday, October 21 – Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection.  Presented by Iberiabank and Iron Mountain Solutions, the exhibition will be on view through January 13, 2019.

“The Richard H. Driehaus Collection is widely known as one of the most important private collections of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany,” remarked HMA Director of Curatorial Affairs Peter Baldaia. “Tiffany created among the highest quality American decorative objects of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and to have these pieces on view at the Museum, especially over the holidays, is a rare opportunity and we hope our community members are able to view the stunning artworks while they are on display.”

Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection was organized by the Richard H. Driehaus Museum and is toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC. It is a collection of more than 60 objects, spanning over 30 years of Tiffany’s prolific career and focuses on his magnificent stained-glass windows, floral vases, lamps and accessories.

Baldaia, will be sharing behind-the-scenes secrets from the exhibition at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UAH on November 9. Find more information here.

On November 15, local stained glass artist  Robert Perrella will demonstrate the techniques used to create a stained glass lampshade. Following the demonstration, he will discuss the different techniques used to produce the lamps on view in the Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection exhibition.
