Neighbors around the Brindlee Mountain Primary School in Union Grove are cleaning up damage from Saturday’s tornado.
The strong winds uprooted everything from telephone poles to trees.
James Harbin lives behind the school. He says more than 20 trees in the area around his house were uprooted and blown around during the storm.
The community came together to help. Neighbors, friends and even strangers stopped by with chainsaws and equipment to move the trees.
He says he never could have expected this reaction from the community.
James Harbin says, “ They said ‘You alright?’, I said, ‘No, we got hit’. Then everybody started coming in. My wife is from here. But, I’m new here and this is awesome. I mean, I couldn’t ask for better friends than this.”
Other neighbors were out today picking up debris in their yards that blew over from the damage at Brindlee Mountain Primary School and making other repairs to their homes.
