UPDATE 3:30 p.m.:
Huntsville Police Lieutenant Michael Johnson held a press conference Thursday afternoon concerning the officer-involved shooting that left a Huntsville woman dead.
Police say Crystal Ragland died from her injuries shortly after being shot by two Huntsville Police Officers around 8:30 Thursday morning at Stadium Apartments.
We do not know how many rounds were fired or how many times she was shot. Police say Ragland did not have the opportunity to fire her gun.
Two officers responded to the complex after reports of Ragland pointing a gun at neighbors outside. Police say the officers went to her door, but then she came out a different door and approached officers with a gun.
Police say there was a short confrontation between Ragland and officers that lasted about one minute before shots were fired by both officers. Police say there was a verbal exchange and she did not follow directions from officers to drop her gun.
Police say there is no evidence that Ragland fired her gun at any neighbors.
Police say the officers have been placed on administrative duty for the next few days.
An incident review board will meet within next couple weeks.
