TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Following Saturday's 41-34 victory over Georgia which put the Alabama Crimson Tide tops in the most recent AP college football rankings, head coach Kalen DeBoer has reason to be boastful.
However, a video being shared virally on several social media accounts has DeBoer saying some rather unexpected, outlandish, and potentially offensive things about the game against the Bulldogs.
If you haven't seen the original post, we won't link to the actual video, but we can transcribe portions of what was said. One of the cleaner comments in the video is, "Everyone knew Alabama would beat Georgia tonight. We always do."
"Jalen Milroe ... sent those Bulldogs to the vet and put them to sleep," the video also has DeBoer as saying.
But first, let's VERIFY if the video is real.
THE QUESTION
Is a video depicting Kalen DeBoer gloating over Alabama's win versus Georgia real?

THE ANSWER
No, Kalen DeBoer did not say what is depicted in the video, which appears to be a product of AI-assisted deepfake production methods.
WHAT WE FOUND
The University of Alabama's Crimson Tide YouTube channel features every post-game press conference DeBoer and predecessor Nick Saban has held in recent years.
Samples of each one can provide clues as to the demeanor, cadence, and inflections each man has used when speaking to the media on a range of topics.
This is also how people can create "deepfake" videos. Artificial intelligence services can take samples of any voice - often with as little as 30 seconds to 2 minutes of audio - and make audio and video files where the subject can say anything the creator wishes. Often the AI is fed outrageous dialogue in an effort to grab clicks and shares.
That is certainly the case in this video. Using Saturday's press conference as a sample, the deepfake video creator made DeBoer say the "Everybody knew Alabama would beat Georgia" comment, as well as the following (edited for content):
- "I almost crapped my pants in the fourth quarter..."
- "That ginger b*****d Carson Beck threw a 67-yard touchdown..."
- "The guy played like he was Daniel Jones in the first half. We were beating them by four scores."
- "After halftime, Carson transformed into Sam Darnold, the redhead god of football."
- "Jalen Milroe threw a g**d**n piss-missile to Mobile's finest, Ryan Williams."
- "He sent those Bulldogs to the vet and put them to sleep. Roll F*****g Tide, baby."
The quality of the clip is blurry, which helps mask the fact that DeBoer's supposed speech does not match his facial movements - a hallmark of determining if a video has been altered.
In the actual video, DeBoer does give Milroe compliments for his performance in the game. "Jalen did a good job of seeing the space, seeing the coverages," he said. But at no point was the phrase "sent those Bulldogs to the vet," or anything similar to the samples listed above, spoken.
This video was likely created by an overzealous Alabama fan who wanted to have a bit more expense at Georgia after a nailbiter of a game. But, as happens often with viral videos, the original creator has not been credited in many posts shared as of late.
