A plot to bomb the Walker County Courthouse was foiled, according to a report released Friday by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook.

Two jail inmates planned to create several bombs and commit several murders. Bryant Wayne Williams, 29, and Terry Keith Hammond, 56, both of Jasper, AL – who had given themselves the code names “Pinky & the Brain” – were working together to create several ANFO (ammonium nitrate/fuel oil) bombs. These bombs would then be placed at specific locations inside the courthouse and detonated.

According to the report, one of the inmates believed he would be bonding out of jail soon and after he got out of jail, he would have gathered the items and instructions needed to carry out the plan.

The inmates also made lists of primary and secondary targets for the explosives. Targets of the primary list included several Walker County law enforcement officials, judges, and a district attorney, and the secondary target list included the Sheriff’s Office and Public Defender’s Office.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office stated they take all threats very seriously, particularly terrorist plots such as this one.

They went on to say that this case was more than just conjecture, and they obtained covert recordings of the inmates’ discussions and documents, along with cooperating witnesses and defendants.

The case files are being forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to determine if federal charges should be filed, against the current charges filed against the inmates.
