It’s a wrapping party like you’ve never seen. One man is doing his part to make sure homeless people across the country have a Christmas they’ll never forget.
Rodney Smith Jr. is known for mowing lawns in all 50 states for those in need, and now he’s getting ready to go on a different kind of journey.
He’s delivering Christmas gifts to homeless people in every state, driving his own car, and granting each person’s Christmas wish. And he’s doing it all dressed like Santa, but not without a little help.
We spoke to Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men Lawn Care Service. He says he’s always surprised by the wishes he hears.
Smith says, “The things are so simple what they ask for. Like, a lot of them just ask for a nice, hot shower. They haven’t had a hot bath in a long time. So, we’ll go get them a 3-night stay in a hotel. Some just want to get back home. They’re homeless in one area for so long. They just want to get back home to where they have family. So we buy them bus tickets.”
Rodney leaves on his trip next Friday, and he says the biggest challenge is coming up with gas money. He says it takes around 22 days to complete the journey.
