HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — With less than one month until the 2022 Huntsville Championship, members of the local media gathered at The Ledges to enjoy lunch, golf and programming from Penn Garvich, Huntsville Championship Tournament Director, Spike McRoy, Champions Tour golfer and Wilson Furr, current Korn Ferry Tour member.
Attendees heard from Spike and Wilson about the challenges and triumphs that come with playing professional golf. Spike, a Huntsville native, played golf at the University of Alabama before making his way to the professional tours. He is now a member of the Champions Tour. Wilson is a new face on the Korn Ferry Tour this year after he graduated from the University of Alabama. Wilson will receive an exemption for the 2022 Huntsville Championship.
“This was a great way to kick off the one month mark for the second Huntsville Championship,” said Huntsville Championship tournament director Penn Garvich. “The media and the Huntsville community play such an important role in this event and making these professional golfers feel welcome. In just a few short weeks, 150 professional golfers will tee off on hole one with the hopes of holding the trophy at the end of the week. We saw a great turn out last year and hope to see that again this year!”
