"It's a great honor," said Hendrix, the former Head Boys Basketball and Tennis Coach at Athens High School. "It's a dream come true, you play your career, you have a great time, you get into coaching, you coach young men, it's just great."
Hendrix added that he shares each personal accomplishment with every player he's coached.
"The awards that might've come my way, is there because of them. It's their hard work, they've worked. If it's state championships in tennis or final fours in basketball, they worked for it. It was their accomplishments. I was just a part of it and I was glad to be a part of it."
