The February 21 game against North Alabama is the second time Auburn has played in Madison, beating Tennessee Tech last year 4-3 at the home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas.
“We’re looking forward to playing at Toyota Field again this season,” Auburn baseball head coach Butch Thompson said in a release. “The Trash Pandas were a great host a year ago, and the Auburn fans in the Huntsville area were engaged in the game from start to finish. We have no doubt it’ll be more of the same come February 21.”
Although he didn’t play in that 2022 game, Auburn Tiger Sonny DiChiara made himself very comfortable at Toyota Field as a member of the Trash Pandas. After being drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft, DiChiara would play 36 games for the Pandas at first base and as a designated hitter. He would finish with a .195 batting average, .362 on-base percentage and .600 slugging.
“I’m not sure it gets better than this,” DiChiara said of the atmosphere at Toyota Field in a team release. “This is a great crowd, a great environment, and something I look forward to every day.”
According to the Trash Pandas, first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. with all gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Full ticket information will be released “in the coming weeks,” but “Trash Pandas season ticket holders will have the first priority,” the release continues. As for Auburn season ticket holders, they “will then have an opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public.”

Auburn enters the 2023 after finishing the season 43-22 overall and a 16-13 mark in SEC play. The team made it to the second round of the College World Series.
