Weather permitting, CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship plays in Huntsville April 23-25

The 2021 CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship will be playedf April 23-25, weather permitting.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — (Huntsville Sports Commission) The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Beach Volleyball Championship is coming to the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville on April 23 -25. The event will be hosted by the Huntsville Sports Commission, the City of Huntsville and Rally Volleyball.

“I am looking forward to finally being able to come to Huntsville for an exciting weekend of Beach Volleyball at this amazing facility. After a year and a half of planning this event with Colleen Craig of Rally Volleyball and the staff at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex, I am looking forward to a successful championship,” stated CCSA Commissioner, Jerome Rodgers. “We want to thank Tommy Battle, the Mayor of Huntsville, his leadership team and the Huntsville Sports Commission for their ongoing collaboration with the CCSA.”

The 2021 CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship will be played over the course of three days from April 23-25. The 2021 edition marks the fifth championship for the CCSA in the sport of Beach Volleyball. Huntsville was originally awarded the 2020 and 2021 championships. However, the 2020 CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship was cancelled due to COVID-19.

“As we work toward the continued growth of Huntsville as a center of sports championships, the City is proud to launch this exciting partnership with the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) in hosting the Beach Volleyball Championship,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “Like the spirited and dedicated top-tier athletes who will compete in the Rocket City, we are going above and beyond by providing world-class facilities and hospitality. We want everyone to know Huntsville is where champions come to play.”

The 2021 CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship will be a two-bracket tournament contested over three days. College of Charleston, Florida State, LSU, Missouri State, South Carolina, TCU, Tulane and UNC Wilmington will compete within the Aqua bracket. Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia State, Louisiana Monroe, Southern Mississippi and UAB will comprise the Blue bracket. The Aqua bracket will follow the NCAA’s eight-team, double-elimination format while the Blue bracket will adhere to the ASUN’s six-team, double-elimination format.

Florida State has won four consecutive CCSA Beach Volleyball Championships and is looking for the five-peat in 2021. Admission and parking is free for this event.
