AAMU's Zareon Hayes named Defensive MVP of the 2024 HBCU Legacy Bowl

Zareon Hayes recorded four sacks as he was selected on Saturday afternoon as the HBCU Legacy Bowl Defensive MVP.

NEW ORLEANS — Alabama A&M University senior defensive end Zareon Hayes recorded four sacks as he was selected on Saturday afternoon as the HBCU Legacy Bowl Defensive MVP.
 
Hayes, who was a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) All-Second Team performer, earned the honor for his four-sack performance, despite being on the losing team. The Dillon, S.C. native finished his collegiate career with 97 total tackles, including 47 solo stops. In addition, he registered 27.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks, with 3.5 coming during the 2023 season.

 
The HBCU Legacy Bowl was played at Yulman Stadium and is for draft-eligible players from historically Black colleges and universities were able to showcase their skills for professional organizations. The two teams in the Legacy Bowl were named after a pair of legendary coaches, former Florida A&M head coach Jake Gaither and former Grambling State head coach Eddie Robinson.
 
Team Gaither held off Team Robinson for the 10-6 victory.
