Kam Stutts named Auburn Team Captain for 2023

Brooks High School graduate Kam Stutts has been named a team captain for the Auburn Tigers.

AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn football has announced their four captains of the 2023 season.

Sports Illustrated reports:

"The Tigers have selected tight end Luke Deal, offensive lineman Kam Stutts, JACK Elijah McAllister, and quarterback Payton Thorne as their captains.

"Deal, a senior tight end and a representative of Auburn at SEC Media Days, has 14 career receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. He's been an important part of the Tigers' run blocking and will likely feature as a pass-catcher as well in Hugh Freeze's offense.

"Stutts won the starting right guard position during fall camp a season ago and rotated in and out with Keiondre Jones at the spot last season."

SI also says Stutts has become one of the leaders in Auburn's locker room and was a great person to represent the Tigers at SEC Media Days.

Sports Illustrated also reports:

"McAllister wasn't the most productive player during his time at Vanderbilt, but his SEC experience and leadership qualities make him a valuable edition to the team.

"He started a nonprofit "All 4:1 and 1 For All" back in 2022 that focuses on fostering "a strong and vibrant community through our efforts in developing youth from all cultural backgrounds, both athletically and academically, while also basing our growth on religious principles.

"Over the course of his five-year career with the Commodores, McAllister recorded 65 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks."

Before he transferred to Auburn, Thorne set records for total yards, total touchdowns and passing touchdowns at MSU. When he left, he ranked fifth in career total touchdowns, fifth in career total yards, fourth in career passing touchdowns and third in single-season passing yards.
