HARTSELLE, Ala. — Hartselle Football stayed undefeated and moved to (6-0) on Sep. 23, dominating Oxford 69-21.
Hartselle Head Coach Bryan Moore said his upperclassmen are the reason for that record
"[We have] just great senior leaders, you know, a lot of hard work, a lot of buy in, a lot of effort," said Moore. "I'm just proud of kids and where they are."
One of those seniors is quarterback Jack Smith. The signal caller recorded 253 total yards and 4 touchdowns in the win over Oxford.
"I've been playing with these guys since I was a sixth grader now," said Smith "I have so many lifelong friends that are on this team, and I'm just so glad that I get to play with my buddies every week."
For his efforts, Smith has been named the FOX54 First Down Friday Night MVP of the Week, presented Whataburger.
"[Smith's calling to leadership] comes his mom and dad, great parents, and, again, buying into our program and and he's a multi-sport kid, too," said Coach Moore. "[He was also] on state championship baseball team, so that has a lot to do with it as well."
After high school, Smith will take his athletic talents to the University of Arkansas where he will pitch for the Razorbacks.
