Former Alabama guard JD Davison inks two-way deal with Boston Celtics

Under his two-way contract, Davison will split time between the Boston Celtics and their G League affiliate.

BOSTON — Former Alabama guard JD Davison has signed a new two-way contract with the Boston Celtics, the team announced Monday. Davison, who was drafted 53rd overall by the Celtics in the 2022 NBA Draft, will enter his third NBA season and his third consecutive season with the Celtics under a two-way deal.

Under his two-way contract, Davison will split time between the Boston Celtics and their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics. Two-way players can compete in up to 50 regular season games and earn half the rookie minimum salary for one season before becoming free agents.

Most of last season, Davison played for the Maine Celtics and emerged as a standout in the G League, averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 assists per game. He helped Maine reach the G League finals, where they lost to the OKC Blue.

In the NBA, Davison appeared in seven regular season games last year. His top performance included scoring 7 points, dishing out 7 assists, and grabbing 4 rebounds against the Charlotte Hornets in April.
