Tennessee Valley Schools game-day policies for football season

Here’s a look at the game-day policies for school districts in the region.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — High school football season is starting, and attendance rules vary. Here’s a breakdown of game-day policies for several school districts across the Tennessee Valley:

Madison County Schools:

  • Elementary and Middle School Students: Must be accompanied by an adult who remains at the game. Unaccompanied students without a driver’s license will not be admitted.
  • Bags and Backpacks: Large bags or backpacks are prohibited unless for medical reasons. Keep walkways clear and avoid loitering.

Madison City Schools:

  • Elementary and Middle School Students: Must be with an adult who stays for the duration of the game. Unaccompanied students without a driver’s license cannot enter.
  • Bags and Backpacks: Large bags or backpacks are not permitted unless needed for medical reasons. Walkways must remain clear and loitering is not allowed.

Huntsville City Schools:

  • Elementary and Middle School Students: Must be accompanied by an adult who stays at the game. Students without a driver’s license and no accompanying adult will be denied entry.
  • Bags and Backpacks: Large bags or backpacks are not allowed unless for medical reasons.
  • Walkways: Must be kept clear.
  • Loitering: Not permitted.

Athens City Schools:

  • Students in 8th Grade and Below: Must be accompanied by an adult. Students should stay seated unless getting food or using the restroom. Loitering outside the stands is prohibited. Those who do not follow the rules, may have to sit with an adult or be asked to leave.

Decatur City Schools:

  • Bags: Clear bags are required. Exceptions include diaper and medical bags. 
  • Seating: Students must remain seated during the game.
  • Loitering: Prohibited, including in the parking lot after the game.
  • Entry: Spectators should enter on the side where they plan to sit—Decatur fans are on the home side, while the other team’s fans are on the visitor side. Crossing between sides is not allowed.
  • Re-entry: Not permitted if you leave the stadium during the game.
  • Disruptions: Disruptive behavior may result in removal and a ban from future events.

Florence City Schools:

  • Students in 8th Grade and Below: Must be accompanied by an adult. Unaccompanied students must call for pickup.
  • Student Behavior: Must sit in the stands; standing or loitering outside the seating area is not allowed.
  • Bags: Only clear bags are permitted; no backpacks except for game night participants.

Albertville City Schools:

  • Elementary and Middle School Students: Any child under the age of 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult.
  • Bags: Attendees are allowed to bring in bags but are subject to search at any time by school administration or law enforcement.
  • Seating: Spectators are expected to sit behind the sideline of their team and cheer for their team’s players, cheerleaders or band. All spectators are asked to maintain orderly fashion and display sportsmanship towards all participants on and off the field.
