HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville native and Kansas City Royals', Brewer Hicklen, returned to the Rocket City to host his annual baseball camp. The camp took place in Madison at Bob Jones high school. Hicklen was sporting his Kansas City Royals gear, getting up close personal with the kids. Hicklen spent the afternoon teaching local kids the ins and outs of the game.
Last month the former Huntsville Panther led the Royals Double-A Affiliate, Northwest Arkansas, to its second league title. Now he's back where it all began giving back to the kids who aspire to make a name for themselves on the diamond.
"There's no question when you see these kids run around with a little smile you kind of wish you were in their shoes. You don't have bills, you don't have responsibilities. Only to come out here and soak up all the knowledge and have a good time and meet new people and that's what I love about seeing the smile on these kids' faces each and every year. It seems like we get more and more kids and I'm so thankful for that."
