TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball will be without one of its key players for the remainder of the season.
Senior guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during the team’s recent game against Oregon, head coach Nate Oats confirmed on Tuesday.
“He did rupture his Achilles tendon, so he’s out for the year which is disappointing,” Oats said. “He’s leading the team in three-point percentage, and is one of the better shooters in the country. He’s going to have surgery on it Wednesday, and we expect him to make a full recovery.”
Wrightsell will undergo surgery on Wednesday. Oats stated that Wrightsell is expected to make a full recovery, and the team is considering applying for a medical redshirt to grant him another year of eligibility.
The Crimson Tide will play its first game without Wrightsell on Wednesday, December 4, in the SEC/ACC Challenge against North Carolina.
