MADISON, Ala. — As the 2024 year kicks off, the Rocket City Trash Pandas, in collaboration with the non-profit Trash Pandas Foundation, are unveiling the 'Reading with Sprocket' program. This initiative aims to foster a love for reading among students in the Tennessee Valley.
Sprocket, the lovable mascot, and a representative from the Trash Pandas will be offering complimentary visits to schools or classrooms. Participating students, ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade, will receive a specially designed reading packet containing a folder and a bookmark to help them track their progress.
“We’re extremely excited to launch our reading program for schools in the Tennessee Valley,” said Trash Pandas Director of Community Relations, Maddison Kendrick. “We’re always looking for new ways to get involved with students and teachers here, and Reading with Sprocket will be a great way to connect with them.”
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be rewarded with one complimentary box seat ticket to attend a 2024 Trash Pandas game on selected dates:
- Tuesday, April 23, vs. Tennessee Smokies
- Tuesday, May 21, vs. Montgomery Biscuits on "Elvis Tribute Night"
- Wednesday, May 22, vs. Montgomery Biscuits on "Dog Day"
Faculty members interested in participating are invited to complete the form available here. Participation is subject to availability, and the deadline to complete the reading program is Tuesday, April 9th, 2024.
