Usher to throw first pitch at Braves homestand against the Dodgers

Usher’s appearance is part of the weekend’s packed lineup of promotions and events celebrating Atlanta’s culture, sports and style.
"Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest USHER show of all time," he wrote an Instagram post.

ATLANTA — GRAMMY Award-winning global R&B star Usher will be stepping onto the mound this Saturday at Truist Park to throw the first pitch before the Atlanta Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. 

According to a press release from the Braves, Usher’s appearance is part of the weekend’s packed lineup of promotions and events celebrating Atlanta’s culture, sports and style.

Fans attending Saturday's game can also look forward to a special meet and greet with GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter Jermaine Dupri at the Braves’ Threads store in The Battery. Dupri will join Usher during pregame festivities, taking the mic to announce “Play Ball” before the first pitch.

More game promotions this weekend: 

  • Friday, September 13, at 7:20 p.m.: All gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the Braves’ first matchup against the Dodgers, with the Kings Springs Melody Makers performing the national anthem. Fans can enjoy Friday Night Fireworks, presented by Georgia Lottery, after the game.

  • Saturday, September 14, at 7:20 p.m.: Alongside Usher’s first pitch, McIntosh High School will perform the national anthem, with Jermaine Dupri leading the ceremonial “Play Ball” announcement.

  • Sunday, September 15, at 7:10 p.m.: The Braves will celebrate Roberto Clemente Day with a special presentation honoring pitcher Chris Sale as the team’s Roberto Clemente Award nominee.

  • Monday, September 16, at 7:20 p.m.: As the homestand wraps up, the first 15,000 fans will receive a Braves and Curaçao-branded can cooler.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for each game to enjoy pregame entertainment and activations throughout The Battery Atlanta.
